My sister got so exhausted and ill from no sleep and fear, she was too ill to even visit her husband in the nursing home for a time and he took a turn for the worse without her daily visits and he stopped eating, had to be tube-fed, got an infection. Burglaries and break-ins can create terrible, long-lasting problems when they start in an area and sometimes police are too busy to do much until it gets very bad. My sister could have been killed had she awakened when those people were in her house. She'd have reached for her gun I'm sure and they probably would have beaten her or killed her. Many of those neighbors carried guns and had them at the ready as they patrolled during that time because they openly discussed it with her when they called and told her what all was going on. One of the items stolen from my sister was a golden church pendant my brother in law has bought my sister for a church he'd funded in a remote Mexican village through their church in her name. It meant so much to her and she loved it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/off...ghborhood.html Chicago Police Will No Longer Respond to Burglaries or Robberies | FrontPage Magazine |
Thanks I missed your post. I can't even imagine how scary it would be. And I honestly don't know what I'd do in that situation either.
