I totally understand your concern. My first yorkie, Charlie, was terrified of other dogs and children because of me. I was so worried that he would react badly that I over reacted. As soon as Barney was old enough and fully vaccinated, I took him to meet with friends who have dogs. He loves other dogs. I taught pre-k when I got Barney. After obtaining permission from admin, I explained to my students that Barney was learning just like them and I wanted him to not be afraid of young children. I asked them to sit in a circle and keep their hands in their laps. I told them that if any of them grabbed at him it might make him be afraid of children forever. I then put Barney down and let him walk around. He sniffed and licked almost all of them and they were angels. Of course my aid and I were right there to intervene if needed. I feel that these experiences have helped him. Good luck in finding a play date. I hope it goes well for you and Leiloni.
