Thanks everyone. Daisy is putting a little weight on her leg but is hobbling around. We have her on tramadol pending her surgical consult. Although high risk for anesthesia, my vet feels she can undergo the procedure and that the surgeon will be able to establish a suitable protocol for putting her under and managing her pain during and after the procedure. Unless the surgeon has a major reservation about going forward, this is my plan for Daisy. It's a tough decision and I'll be scared to death that she will die on the table. But I want her to live out the rest of her days happy and playful not lame and painful or arthritic. She is 13 but Winny my two year old is keeping her young. She can play with him for as long as he wants and even wins at tug of war. I'll update after we see the surgeon in about a week or so.
