How long have you had him? What are the reasons for putting him in a crate? The only suggestion I can make is have the crate open while you're at home. That way he can go in out of the crate when he wants too. I have blanket and some toys in there for him to be comfortable. By having access to go in and out of the crate when he likes he should start to feel more comfortable being closed up when you have to leave. I hope that help.
