If the excess drinking only happened after the pill, then I'd chalk it up to that and probably wouldn't worry too much - although a call to your vet never hurts, just to be sure and to put your mind at ease.
Lots of times, dry mouth improves over time with any med that causes it, so maybe give it a few days.
