This happened in the UK a couple of years ago too
Policeman left his German Shepherd in the van whilst he popped into the station, he got sidetracked and forgot all about the poor dog for, if I remember rightly, a couple of HOURS!!!!!!!!
Needless to say the poor dog was dead when he DID remember about him
Thankfully I have never actually come across any dogs left in hot cars because I WOULD smash a window to release the dog and to hell with the consequences
A dog's life is a million times more important than a car which is, after all, just a lump of metal to get us from A to B.
