It's hard to say.... I go back and forth a lot. Jackson is almost 5. And lives a very good life. I think he would ultimately love a brother or sister (if it was the right dog) but it also is just... very easy with one with my current lifestyle. I enjoy bringing him places, on vacation, we travel back and forth a lot between houses, I am single, etc.

I also think I'd like a bigger dog again someday, and out of most of the bigger dog breeds, a Golden is one I'd consider again. Most I meet are just great with small dogs, and if you teach them the proper way to play from the time they're a pup, you shouldn't have any major issues. Jackson likes big dogs, respectful big dogs, but he also gets along better with big breeds that he grew up with from the time they were a pup. Because they learn the proper way to play from the start. With that said, he just doesn't "play" with a big dog the same way he does with a dog his size. And I think while he'd enjoy the company of a bigger dog, he'd prefer a dog similar in size.

So really you just have to take into account your dog, and her play style, and what you think she would enjoy best. And if you are financially capable of owning 2 dogs, go for it.
