Maybe and hopefully she is taking this opportunity to read up and research on whelping, the warning signs of and the proper after care for mamma and pups.

OP be sure to have an Emergency vets member on hand. Plus get prepared for the after care of a litter of puppies.

Washable Bedding, rugs, old towels, baby blankets.
(check garage sales and second hand stores even Good Will)
Lots and lots of news papers,
Heating pad to places under the bedding for the first 3-4 weeks.

You will need somewhere for mamma and puppies to be out of and away from the every day foot traffic in your home. Some sort of whelping box or area large enough for the pups to grow and play in until they are ready for their new homes.

Please update on the situation with your gal !!
