Your Elliemae sounds like a wonderful, devoted companion. It's definitely not easy when we lose one of our babies, but she sounds like she's had the best life possible. Always take comfort in that, when the time comes.
Until that time comes, treasure your moments together every day. Don't think about what will happen down the road. It will just take away from the joy of the "now." Ya know?
And, I promise you...there are so many other pups out there who will want to come in and help heal your heart. When the time is right, you'll know and I recommend you let it happen. It took me a few years after losing my last dog, Jasmine, before I was "ready" but I knew loving another pup would help me move forward. My love has never gone away for Jasmine...I just discovered there was a way the heart expands when a new love comes in.
