As already mentioned, it is an insurance liability for companies...if an animal were to bite someone.

And also mentioned, there is mention of the "service dog".

Some people are allergic to dogs...but you also have to realize...some people are deathly AFRAID of dogs. Maybe they were bitten or scared as little kids, who knows. But as much as we all hate it when people do not allow our "pets" into certain establishments,...we must also respect the fact that some people are psychologically afraid/uncomfortable around dogs.

Just thought I would bring this up as no one mentioned it so far.

Here is one incident that occured not too long ago. We were seated in the outdoor area of a sushi restaurant, and a patron asked if we could sit a bit further away as she claimed to be afraid of dogs. Despite the fact that she was a bit rude in the way that she said it,...we still respected her wishes. Another time, we were in a mattress store...and the sales rep told us that she was afraid, and asked that we hold our dog. We did...and she kept a 5-foot distance from us at all times.
