They say dogs are onmivores bc in the wild, the wolves (their ancestors) ate the guts of their prey which were herbivores, contained plants & fruits. Naturally, dogs can't digest plants (it will just go through them), so it's best to slightly blanch veggies & better if it's blended.
As far as protein being a contributor to harming the kidneys & liver is only if the dog has a compromised health issue. I don't believe that feeding a high protein diet like raw will harm the said organs...only if the dog was pre-wired to have these problems. Using high quality proteins are of more nutritional value & are easily digested by the dog & cat. I also think a high carb diet is damaging to our pets...cancer cells feed on carbs.
