Yes........mommas can and do eat their young, as will other dogs that are allowed to "visit" with newborns....They can accidently eviscerate the puppy, trying to chew the cord off....I always do my own cords and then allow mom to clean puppy off.....and all females are watched very, very closely for any abherrant behavior towards any of the babies.....especially maidens.
