I had to cut Ruby's once and it grew back so its not that big of deal, it grows back. Maybe once it grows back your new pup will have out grown that ornery stage. On the other hand you could just put a smaller pony right between they eyes about an inch above the eye line. I use those tiny black rubber bands plus its less likely to get pulled out and is looks cute.
