I have a couple of different methods I use to get owners and their babies together...Since Southwest Airlines has started allowing pets to fly in the cabin with owners, I like to have my owners get a round trip ticket on Southwest, to Houston Hobby, they buy a one way ticket for the pup to return in cabin with them....Southwest has such reasonable rates, if you schedule far enough ahead of time, the tickets are very reasonable....much less expensive and a lot safer than shipping a baby "cargo". They are allowed one free carryon bag, which is the carrier they are bringing to put the pup in....I meet them at the airport, we review everything once again (information we have previously gone over at length over the phone....)all questions answered, puppy examined by new owner, we visit during the layover time, which is anywhere from an hour to two hours, and they return with the baby in the cabin. This price for the plane ticket and the pups ticket is all paid by the new owner, when they buy the tickets to and from Houston. The other option is to pay a "shipping" expense and I have someone that will accompany your baby to you....this is a shipping fee of $380.00, which covers the fee she charges me to hand deliver the baby, her ticket/pups ticket, and the shipping crate. I buy a standard carrier.....I dont know what the airlines use to ship the pups in....looks like cardboard, but I dont know if that is accurate....THAT $380.00 is added to the price of the puppy, which you include with the final payment for the baby. You meet at the airport, you examine the baby and sign a release that you received the baby and you approve of the way the baby looked when you received the baby...clean, healthy looking, clear eyes, dry nose, etc....and any comments you have....you sign the paper, add your comments, put it in an envelope and seal the envelope...that provides you the opportunity to disclose anything, including anything about the transporter you may have to say, without feeling intimidated. That is how I personally handle shipping.
