I think a rib bone is okay. I definitely wouldn't do the softer bones that can splinter. Honestly, I never give Mandie bones. I do give them to my bigger dog, though.
I think if it is beef not pork - pork and chicken bones are way too soft and will splinter. I have splintered some pork rib bones myself About the only bones I will let my two chomp on (totally supervised of course) are T-bone steak bones.
