It's funny this comes up because Giorgio has a slight case of kennel cough and he was vaccinated. The place where I board him had dogs that were not vaccinated. The owners were addressed because this is against the policy for boarding a pet there. I am going to take the advice I got from the vet from the vet school I take Giorgio to and get the nasal bordatella before I board little man again.
His vet said even though he got the shot, he may get a slight strain which is what's happened. He won't be as sick as a dog who didn't get it. Giorgio gets Benadryl whenever he gets vaccinated even though Porker Butt weighs 9 pounds I take no chances. I was offered the Lepto shot. I opted not to. My area isn't wooded so he doesn't need it.
I seen vaccinations not work on kids as well. I remember about 6 years ago, my boys were vaccinated against chicken pox, it was required and sure enough, they still got it, nowhere near as bad as it would have been if they had-not gotten vaccinated. |
