I hope the calming meds will help. I have never used one on a dog but my daughter has used Rescue Remedy for pets on her very neurotic cat and it worked very well. It did not make the cat go to sleep but she was calm and quiet in the car when she would usually cry and vomit constantly. The liquid form can be put directly in the mouth or put in their water. I know there are also other brands out there but that is the one we have had experience with. She got it from Amazon . com. It is also available at many pet supply stores.

If it gives her some relief it would certainly be worth a try. These little dogs can be spooked easily sometimes. They are so small and sometimes we forget how big everyone and everything else looks to them, not to mention fast movements and loud sounds.
