Roxie was nearly 3 when we got her, so she was already well house-trained. We gated her in the kitchen for a little while when we would go out, but we soon realized that it wasn't really necessary. She has free roam of the first floor. She never goes upstairs because the stairs aren't carpeted and there are a lot of them. She is perfectly content to lounge around in the living room/dining room/kitchen areas. She doesn't get into anything or chew anything, other than her toys.
