Maybe one of those pet apartment things or a litter pan with puppy pads in it would work in this situation. A dogs strongest sense is their nose so if your aunts pup was able to smell their own scent they would know where they need to go potty. So if they are peeing on the floor and it is not cleaned up properly they wil continue to go in that area.
Tip: Dog like to wonder when they go potty. This is kind of goose but it works. I do this when I paper not pad train my litters of puppies. Place several pads down all touching. Than take a piece of the poo and place it on the pads. Just leave it there allowing the pup to sniff it and remember that location of the feel of the pad under its paws. Its not the easies thing to leave it set but it will encourage the pup to return to that same spot. I would suggest doing this for several weeks until the pups gets it.
