Have you thought about a pet sitter? My friend is a pet sitter and she visits animals in their home minimally 2x a day - some request more frequent visits. During her visits, she feeds and waters them, takes them out for walks around the yard (or other designated places the owners may want), spends about 1/2 hour each time playing with them or petting/brushing them. If kitties are home, she scoops the litter and makes sure they are fed and watered. She also will bring in papers/mail, water plants and turn on and off lights to make it look like someone is still there. I would highly recommend a pet sitter (make sure they are bonded and have a contract). My friend has even taken pets that have gotten ill to the vets for treatment is needed. If you do take your pup with you and you stay in a hotel, definitely keep her crated while you are out just in case the maid opens the door, you don't want your little one running out. There have been a few stories where the dogs were not crated and the maid opened the door only to have the pup run out and get lost. Not something you want to have happen while on vacation away from home.
