I would also recommend putting an old tshirt of yours in her bed with the snuggle puppy or confined area. It will have your smell on it and it will comfort her when you aren't around (especially at night). My Jack drags my tshirt out of his crate and into his bed in the dining room when he doesn't want to nap in his crate. lol. He loves having it around.

Also, if there is any particular place she likes to relieve herself when it isn't on the puppy pads, place a pad there and lots and lots of praise and treats when she does go on her pads.

Jack is now 16 weeks and so far, he's been accident free for a week and a half. It took a while for him to get the hang of where it is appropriate for him to go potty, but now, even he is proud of himself when he goes on his puppy pads lol.

I also found, the more tricks he learned, the easier it was for him to be potty trained. His obedience was definitely influential.

You seem very attentive and loving and I'm confident that your little girl is in the right hands! Good luck!
Thanks so much for your lovely message!

She had a much better night last night in terms of sleep (at least one of us did!) and woke up an hour later (but she was ready to sleep at 9.15 so I'm not surprised that she was still an early bird!) at 5 a.m. I got up at 5 and cleaned her puppy pads (good girl!) and gave her a little pat and a chat (she woke me...but through play rather than whining...so I was very happy with her).

She didn't sleep in her bed last night...but slept in the bowl under her water bottle...it was totally dry...but I think that there's something about the shape that she liked. Not sure.

I'm going to go for a run tonight (not with Lucky...she's too small) and I'll give her the shirt once it's dry (summer here is VERY hot and humid). I'll also pop out and buy a clock...so that tonight she has those two to keep her company until the Snuggle Puppy arrives.

At this stage...I think that Lucky is doing great...and her silly old owner just needs to relax a little and try and learn how he can help her be the best dog she can be. So far I've been worried and stressed the whole time...which is bad...BUT...I've managed to lose 2kgs since Sunday so it's not all bad news! So...my new mantra is to try and relax...and if something isn't working for the pup (such as sleeping upstairs)...then I just need to try to find an arrangement that will help her (getting a clock, moving her downstairs, moving me downstairs etc). I guess it's trial and error...and there's no quick fixes.

Thanks again for your response...every piece of advice is MORE than welcome!
