We use the Terro outside, but I tried an old home remedy for inside, and it actually worked.
Corn meal! You have to watch the ants and find their 'highway' from your house back to the colony. Place a small amount of corn meal near the main traffic area. The ants will carry the grains back to feed their queen. Ants can't digest the corn, and like rice in birds, it will swell and kill them. It takes a couple of days, but the ants will disappear. You can use it outside if it's dry or you can put it somewhere it won't get rained on.
