Update. We have an appointment with the surgeon next Wednesday, July 3rd at 4:00 pm. In the meantime I will make sure he doesn't jump off stuff and keep an eye on him. He doesn't seem to be in pain anymore nor is he limping. I stopped giving him the medicine the next day after he started - so he's not on pain meds and seems fine. He's barking at neighbors and playing as usual so I think we'll be ok until the appt. She seems really nice and so did the staff that called me. They were very quick and worked me in next week even though she doesn't usually work that day.
