Is your pooch crate trained? Dori has a crate for sleeping and one in my office. If she barks for no reason I give the hush command with a physical hand signal.
Sometimes she will run around barking at the gardner or a bird. I point to her crate and say GO! She runs in, I close the door and walk away for 30 seconds. If quiet, I quickly return and reward her for "good" quiet.
I guess my point is it takes a lot of time and consistency to get results.
