I have been fortunate with my Cookie. Her albumin improved in record time after her initial hospitalization/diagnosis. The one thing that the specialist told me was ultra important with these pups is diet. I did a consult with a vet nutritionist at that time and have home cooked for her since. She gets no other food/treats. She is doing so well that we are now tapering her off of her prednisone. I worry about things setting it off again, though....I recently had to make the decision about vaccines for her. After doing some reading and speaking at length with her vet and her IMS I decided to go ahead with them. But, no, Heartgard was not contraindicated for her. I am sure it varies with each pup.
