I neutered my young boy at 6.5 months. Not one of my boys has ever been overweight from neutering, or overweight period. Dogs get fat from being overfed, not from being castrated. I hope that $45 is part of a spay/neuter certificate or clinic. I paid a couple hundred bucks for a neuter here. I would make sure that the dog has pre-anesthesia blood work.
