My question is, can I do anything to get them to move? LOL! I'm thinking there isn't but I thought I'd ask. Cinders doesn't ever go out alone, but the neighbors have dogs and cats that roam freely between yards. I have a broom ready incase the hawks try to get a neighbor's pets. I'll try to get pictures of defending the pets if it happens and if I can.
You can try to deter them - it probably won't work. I've heard that making loud noises may cause them to want to relocate. (Horn/firecrackers/etc). I've dealt with the hawks and owls for a year now and they really seem to be used to noises (like having to live in cities has desensitized them or something). I just stay alert and I even take out a pop open umbrella with me sometimes.

I have some of that reflector tape all over my yard. Now, it actually may help with the hawks...they don't seem to come as low as they used to. But the owls - they don't care about that tape at all lol
