They may be normal in a few areas, but not most. The first thing Iask myself when seeing an owner pay next to nothing regularly is, "What is the vet leaving out?".

Sure, surgery can be done cheap, but I'd have to wonder...are IV fluids not geing given? Gas anesthesia not heing used? Monitoring not being done? No dedicated person to focus Only on your pup's vials while under?

Hospitals without xray or those who haven't upgraded to digital xray will be cheaper..but not better for the pet. I think onsite u/s is very important. Dental xray is necessary if we are going to start pulling teeth. Most places don't have it. I prefer endoscopy on site also.

So it has to do with location, but also the standard of care that each owner expects. If they get great pricing and have done research, great! I know at some of these prices given my vet would not have a paycheck at the end of the week.

I agree.. my sil always braged to me that it ONLY cost $99.99 to have her dog's teeth cleaned. I asked, with blood work ... got a blank look. Her pup passed away and I often wondered (to myself of course) if he had had reqular blood work would they have caught the problem?? she alos feed dog food from walmart.
