I do not advocate changing a babys food....they have so much stress and adjustments to deal with, they should be spared the only thing they come into this new, unfamiliar situation with, the food the breeder had the baby on. If I was you, I would go back to what he knows, Iams Smart puppy. If he was not eating that, it may have been just because he was trying to adjust to his new home, no momma and litter mates, etc.....Royal Canin has an excellent puppy food and the kibble is formulated for their developing appetites/tastes, and the kibble is softer for little mouths, and it is nutritionally developed for babies. As far as feeding by hand, this is not uncommon and is something we all do as new owners, while our babies adjust. You have to be sure the baby is eating enough to keep blood sugar up....Royal Canin even has a mousse....canned puppy food....you can mix a little with the kibble so that maybe he will eat on his own....
