Default Is 8 months a bit late for teething?

I have been checking Sam's teeth almost daily because it looks like he is hoarding teeth! His vet wanted to wait as long as possible to do his neuter and see if we could avoid a lot of extractions.

I've noticed the last few days his ears are drooping a bit. At first I chalked it up to being sorely overdue for a grooming. But this morning I noticed that he seems to be having trouble chewing his kibble. Usually he's like a rock crusher mowing through them. This morning he's been biting down really gingerly. He barely ate any at all yesterday.

Thoughts? Is there a chance the puppy teeth could still come out on their own?

I don't want to wait any longer for his neuter. He's starting to mark, and I will also have to start keeping him away from his play dates with Piper. Mom wants her spayed before first heat, and I'd rather have them both done at the same time.

They will be 8 months on June 30.
