I have a yorkie poo. She's 2/3's yorkie and 1/3 Poodle. She has the curly hair. She is the love of my life. She Did have some health issues her first year...ended up being food allergies. She'll be five in August and is healthy. You never know what problems you may run in to even if you know their family history.
I'd say, go for it....I had no pet for 15 years when I got her. SO happy I got her.
