For me, it depends on the situation. Online, I try to ignore it. Like here, I'll post something and some of the readers will only pay attention to one phrase instead of the entire context and they'll go a bit nutso. Instead of constantly trying to re-explain what I said I just let them go off on their tangents and ignore it.
In person, it just depends on the person- I'll ignore or argue- depends more on my mood, I think.
