Heart-stopping moment We had a few minutes of absolute panic this morning. All four of my fur kids went racing out the back door and went nuts about two big dogs on the other side of our chain link fence. One was a shepherd mix and the other a pit bull. These stray dogs were really excited and the pit bull hit the fence so hard he almost got under it. It literally bowed inward! Of course my little dummies were right there trying to bite his nose. The shepherd mix was getting more and more excited.
I knew that if the pit bull hit the fence again he would be in my yard and I know shepherds well enough to know that if he saw the pit bull get in he would too.
I raced over to the fence yelling at them the whole time and tried to scoop up the two boys while calling the girls. Adie has always been super obedient but she is the alpha now and she wasn't going to leave before Gracie did. Anyway, DH finally came out and got the girls so we could get them all back in the house.
You should have seen them. They were all strutting around like they had really done something spectacular. They were practically high-fiving for Pete's sake.
I don't know where the big dogs came from. I've never seen them before but I will for sure find out. There are no leash laws in our little town but everyone is really good about keeping their dogs confined and not letting them run loose. So this came as a total shock to me! |
