My name is Amanda and I am a proud new owner of our wonderful Yorkie Tobias (my boyfriend decided as a little nod to Arrested Development). This is the first time I've ever had a Yorkie or a little dog for that matter, but we both love him dearly. He's super laid back but loves to go on long walks. He loves people, especially little kids, loves other dogs, but the verdict is still out on cats.
I grew up around big dogs. My family still has our English Lab, Princess who turned 13 today who is the biggest baby and wishes she could be a lap dog. My aunt and uncle had huskies since they've been married and my dad cousins have had muts and golden retrievers. My landlord gave us a 25lbs weight limit for a pooch about a month ago, and I went on the hunt. My boyfriend also wanted something a little bigger because he grew up with Brittany Spaniels and English Springer Spaniels, so I was pushing that 25lbs weight limit as much as I could until last Wednesday I met my angel.
Tobias, or Toby, was originally named Brutus and was from a county away. He was found by the Preston County Humane Society because his old owners didn't want him anymore and left him out for the coyotes to get
They did find the owners and I guess their rat, I mean Chihuahua didn't get along with him so they just let him run off and didn't want him anymore.
After being there a week and being fixed, I came in just in time to actually see another dog that was on petfinder. After not being as impressed as what I thought, I was about to leave when a girl walked in with him. I assumed he was hers because he just walked beside her no problem. I started asking her about him and he walked over jumped on my lap and starting licking my face. It was love at first lick. That Friday my boyfriend and I came back and picked the little guy up and he has been a joy ever since. He's my little shadow and has separation anxiety when he's left alone, but other than that he's housebroken and behaves so well.
He's 2 and I didn't think Yorkies could be this chill.
