Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Is Clyde neutered, or is it possible he is marking?

If he isn't marking, start here:

1) Restrict his freedom to a smallish area with the pad. This can be an xpen or a room where you can supervise. Keep the pad within easy reach at all times.

2) When he does pee on the pad, praise him profusely and reward him with a small treat. Never stop offering praise when he goes in the right place.

3) Clean the accident spots with an enzyme cleaner to remove any trace of a scent. Remember, dogs have keener noses than humans and often return to the same spots to pee again. If you catch him in the act of going in the wrong place, don't scold him. Just say "Uh oh" and bring him to the pad and use key phrases like "Go potty here."

4) Make sure you change the pad often enough. Some dogs will resist going on a full pad.
