My vet gave Gracie Acepromazine 5 mg tablets. She took 1/4 a tablet 1 hr before travel and repeated as needed every 4-6 hours. It worked ok for us. Gracie weighes 3 pounds and did so at the time also. (She was 14 months old when she took it) She took it when we evacuated for Katrina, 8 hours in a car, she had her moments but I have to say it did cut down the hyperness/barking a bit! For 3 pills, it was about $5.00 but it may be more or less depending on your vet.
