I was advised by the specialist that the most important thing in treatment for these pups is diet. He also said that the challenge for many is when they are so sick that they no longer want to eat. I was very fortunate to have found out Cookie's problems early in the game...before she was really losing weight....but they can be turned around even if they have been sick for a while.
A med that I have used for other conditions that can also be used for this is Mirtazapine. IF your pup is turning his nose up to food, ask the vet about this medication. Often it really does help ... it works as an anti emetic, anti nausea and also an appetite stimulant. |
