Barking problems Every time someone enters the house, or really even comes close to the house, (even me, the kids, my husband) my Yorkie will bark like crazy. For three years (her life) we've done nothing but completely ignore when she does this but she still does it regardless.
It wasn't a very big problem until now. My 18 year old daughter just moved back home this weekend and I gave her a midnight curfew because I knew the dogs (really just the Yorkie) would bark like crazy waking up the whole house when she came in. Well, only two days of enduring being woken up at midnight and then struggling to go back to sleep was enough for me (I feel like a zombie this morning) and I told her last night she would have to be home much earlier now or be gone for the night. I feel bad about this because she's 18 and it's all because of the Yorkie (who does know her).
The Yorkie sleeps in our room which is upstairs. I had tried closing the door completely and it didn't change anything. Ear plugs don't work. Her pitch is too high, she's too loud and won't shut up with even just a couple of barks. She will start barking as soon as she pulls into the driveway and doesn't shut up until she's long in her room.
Is there any way I can stop this? |
