I had a female get pregnant through a kennel- I could not believe it, when the vet told us she was pregnant. We didn't own any males, and she was out in her lg kennel to go potty, the male apparently got her through the holes in the kennel (chain link fence kind of out door kennels) they were not small dogs either, this was my rotty. I believe the father was the black lab I would see out and about once in awhile, but I really have no idea. She was spayed, and we found out she was also pregnant then.

Anyways- watch them close, you may have to move one of them behind a closed door.

 good luck

Yep, I was just warning my husband about this very thing. Our Stormie, Australian Shepherd, is about 8 months old. We will be breeding her later but not at her first heat. I just keep thinking she'll go into heat any day now and I warned my husband that just because she's in her kennel outside at night (the chain link kind), does not mean she's "protected". I've heard also about ties happening despite a chain link fence being between them!
