No, pick facebook friends that are already playing. Once you connect to FB, you will see where your FB friends rank on each level. That's how you can figure out who to send requests to, although the game will give you a list of suggestions, too. You will soon discover who is addicted and plays all the time by how quickly they respond to requests.
