Other options would be to have a petsitter come and let the dog out during the day, or have your husband take the dog to doggie daycare. I personally would prefer the petsitter since he is so young.
We have used petsitters before. They charged us $19 per trip for our 4 dogs. They figured 1/2 hr per trip. It would probably cost even less for just one puppy. You could have them come once a day or even twice a day and it wouldn't cost you a fortune.
