A young puppy can have hypoglycemic episodes and should not be left alone for many hours because if his blood sugar drops no one will be around to get it back up which will result in seizures which can then result in death. I would take him with you but I would also take a play pen to keep the puppy in because no matter how good the dog is a big dog and small dog should never be left alone together unsupervised. I love labs to death but they can be loyal to a fault I have known two who would attack any animal and kill it when it came on there property even though they where very friendly loving dogs.
