The thing that gets me, is that it has come on so quick. Piper goes to the vet regularly, and just before we moved to France was declared by a vet to be "perfect in every way, other than being a bit tubby".

At the beginning of the year, I took him in for a check up, and he was given a clean bill of health again. Now, he has to go in for the procedure which the vet says will leave him with "very few teeth" in his mouth.

He's still running around and playing as normal and as if he were a puppy still. No lack of energy at all...look at this pic I took of him 3 weeks ago! And he's still like that! I know we tend to be somewhat melodramatic about our own, but I just can't help but stress about the toll it will take on him!
I feel for you and Piper. I think some general vets that don't specialize in toy sized dogs don't pay as much attention to examining the teeth as they should, since toys have so many more dental issues than bigger dogs. There are many dogs on here who have lost a majority of teeth and do just fine, especially a lot of the rescues. Good luck with Piper and let us know how he does. Welcome to YT! (Your other thread with the photo of Piper on the beach...I called him "her". Sorry!)
