Hi - I know it's scary, but they seem to to recover pretty quickly. It's a little tough at first, but much better within a couple of weeks. My P-nut had two of these surgeries and came home with a fentanyl patch same day. The patch did great at controlling pain - he wore that for three days, then went to tramadol for about a week. After that, he only needed an anti-inflamatory once in a while. His limp was completely gone after after about 4-6 weeks weeks unless he overdid it.and now, 6 months after his second surgery, you'd never know. He runs like the wind and has amazing endurance.

Hang in there, your pup will be so much happier soon! We have a new yorkie, a rescue, who we took on not only because he's a sweetie, but because he has LCP and we thought we'd help another little guy through the surgery. So we'll be going through it again soon, too.
