I am having Barney "tutored" this Friday. He is a little over 4 pounds. However, his frame is big. He is 11 inches tall and 9 inches long. So he is very skinny. The vet postponed his first surgery 2 weeks ago and put him on a high calorie prescription food. The vet feels that he is now ready for surgery. I am hoping that the surgery will help him gain weight. I noticed that he lifted his leg to pee on my wall a few days ago. So I am ready to get this done before he starts marking. He's also been amorous with my arms and our throw pillows lately. I have had two other male dogs. The first one was not fixed until he was around 3 years old. Waiting was a big mistake. We just didn't know any better. He would take off every time he got a whiff of summin summin. I waited until Charlie was a year old because I thought it would be best for him. He didn't mark as badly as Max did (still does nearly 12 years later). Barney will be 6 months in a little more than a week and I am having his done now. If your vet feels he is big enough, then I would let him go ahead and do it.
