I agree that you don't want the hair to get too thick in the ear. We use a flea comb daily to comb ear hair. It removes loose hair and I don't have to pluck often. We also use a cleaner with a drying agent after baths.

I agree that you should have the vet take a look at your baby's ears. Infections don't always present with a smell. Best wishes.
