I would recommend that you contact your breeder and ask if they will keep Mia with her mommy till 12 weeks. They are at less of a risk of a hypoglycemic attack at 12 weeks than they are at a younger age. For example: We brought Princess Sophie home at 9 weeks of age, only because I discovered the breeder was feeding her baby rice cereal to beef her up (which is very, very bad for dogs). On the way home, Sophie had a hypoglycemic attach and she could have easily died if I hadn't had NutriCal on hand. I am positive she would not have made it to our home without it. I wouldn't give honey either!
The NutriCal is readily available here in the States but you would have to check with your vet and with pet stores to see if it is carried across the border. I was also told that I could use Kyro Syrup but I am so glad we had the NutriCal!
I began hand feeding Sophie when she first came home because she wasn't really eating on her own. Don't want to do it too long because you won't always be there to hand feed her. LOL
I know how excited you are (I was the same way) and I know how difficult it will be to have to wait additional time to bring her home but it is really the BEST thing you can do for Mia right now. Please talk to your breeder! I know it costs more $ if they keep the pups to 12 weeks but for health reasons I would wait till then to bring her home.
Another reason to leave her with her mom is that she learning things from her mommy that you don't want to have to teach her yourself. It will help with biting, socialization, and many, many other things that are very important in having a well behaved, healthy and happy puppy!
I would certainly be in contact with your vet to get your other questions answered (re: when to give shots, etc.) and be sure to have an appointment made for the day after you bring her home. She needs a full check up by your vet right away!
I realize it's really up to you what you do but I am praying you leave her with her mommy till 12 weeks. You want a healthy and alive puppy. Blessings!!
