It sounds like LP and or a hip problem. Some vets can not feel LP as well as others but an orthopedic surgeon is your best bet mine only cost $50.00 for the consultation. They can feel the knees and the ACL. Mine knew right away that Callie's was tearing. When our other dog tore hers she would not let it touch the ground at all. Callie was limping some when hers was tearing but I don't know if it was the ACL tearing or her LP that caused that but we had both fixed. Skipping is not normal so it does need to be checked out because most things if left untreated just get worse.
