If you have room for xpen in the house that would be good, you could put her crate in there, pee pad, and water.

In my last home I had the kitchen gated. Now in this home I fence the laundry room when we leave. When they know we are getting ready to go, they will go in by themselves and get in their beds, that I always keep in there.
A bathroom would work well too.

I don't believe any dog should have the run of the house when you aren't home. I think they feel more secure as well being in a familiar smaller space.

I am not a fan of keeping a dog crated, not enough room to move.
