The "fishyness" of fish roe depends on the type of fish. I doubt you've had every kind to deem them too fishy for you! Even bf thinks sometimes lobster can be too fishy. Just a term he used for when he doesn't like something. But fishy isn't the right term.

You would love spot prawn roe then. Same poppyness. Not too far off from tobiko, or masago.
